Melalui akun Twitter resmi BBM, BlackBerry menyatakan komitmen penuh untuk tetap menghadirkan BBM lintas platform ini. "Tetap 100 persen berkomitmen untuk membawa #BBM ke Android dan iPhone," kicau BlackBerry.

Sayangnya, seperti dikutip dari Tech Crunch, Selasa (1/10/2013), BlackBerry masih enggan menyebutkan kapan jadwal peluncuran kembali BBM untuk iPhone dan Android.

Disinyalir penyebabnya molornya jadwal ini karena pihak teknis BlackBerry masih belum menemukan cara untuk memblokir file tidak resmi BBM untuk Android.

Minggu lalu, Andrew Bocking, Kepala Divisi BBM di BlackBerry, mengungkapkan bahwa proses pemblokiran tersebut tidaklah semudah yang diperkirakan dan akan menghabiskan beberapa waktu. Oleh karena kesulitan ini, Bocking membeberkan, aplikasi BBM lintas platform tidak dapat diluncurkan sesegera mungkin.

Tak lama setelah adanya masalah ini, BlackBerry kembali dihampiri berita kurang baik. Perusahaan mengalami kerugian yang cukup besar pada kuartal II tahun fiskal 2013. BlackBerry merugi cukup besar, yaitu 965 juta dollar AS atau sekitar Rp 10 triliun.

Jumlah perangkat yang terjual di kuartal tersebut pun kurang menggembirakan. Jumlahnya hanya sekitar 3,7 juta perangkat, sebagian besar masih menjalankan sistem operasi BlackBerry 7.

Produk yang diharapkan dapat mengembalikan BlackBerry ke masa kejayaan, BlackBerry Z10, malah membuat mereka semakin terpuruk. BlackBerry mengungkapkan, penurunan nilai buku dari Z10 yang tidak berhasil dijual mencapai 934 juta dollar AS.
