BBM Android dan iPhone Tak Kunjung Dirilis, Batal?

Tak kunjung dirilisnya BBM untuk Android dan iPhone membuat banyak pihak menduga aplikasi chatting populer tersebut bakal batal diluncurkan. Ditambah beredarnya selentingan bahwa konsorsium calon pembeli BlackBerry, Fairfax, keberatan BBM dilepas untuk platform lain.

Menanggapi rumor tersebut, BlackBerry menyatakan tetap berkomitmen untuk menghadirkan aplikasi BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) lintas platform.

Melalui akun Twitter resmi BBM, BlackBerry menyatakan komitmen penuh untuk tetap menghadirkan BBM lintas platform ini. "Tetap 100 persen berkomitmen untuk membawa #BBM ke Android dan iPhone," kicau BlackBerry.

Sayangnya, seperti dikutip dari Tech Crunch, Selasa (1/10/2013), BlackBerry masih enggan menyebutkan kapan jadwal peluncuran kembali BBM untuk iPhone dan Android.

Disinyalir penyebabnya molornya jadwal ini karena pihak teknis BlackBerry masih belum menemukan cara untuk memblokir file tidak resmi BBM untuk Android.

Minggu lalu, Andrew Bocking, Kepala Divisi BBM di BlackBerry, mengungkapkan bahwa proses pemblokiran tersebut tidaklah semudah yang diperkirakan dan akan menghabiskan beberapa waktu. Oleh karena kesulitan ini, Bocking membeberkan, aplikasi BBM lintas platform tidak dapat diluncurkan sesegera mungkin.

Beberapa minggu belakangan, BlackBerry sepertinya sedang dirundung berbagai masalah dalam waktu yang hampir bersamaan.

BBM untuk iPhone dan Android yang sejatinya sudah bisa dirilis pada 21 dan 22 September 2013 yang lalu harus mengalami kemunduran tanggal rilis akibat file tak resmi BBM untuk Android. Saking banyaknya pengguna yang menggunakan file tersebut, yaitu sekitar 1,1 juta pengguna, server BBM mengalami masalah yang cukup serius.

Pengguna iPhone di Australia, Selandia Baru, dan beberapa negara Asia, termasuk Indonesia, sempat bisa mengunduh file BBM untuk iPhone langsung dari Apple App Store. Namun, akibat gangguan teknis karena penggunaan file APK tak resmi memaksa BlackBerry mencabut kembali file instalasi aplikasi ini dari toko digital Apple tersebut.

Tak lama setelah adanya masalah ini, BlackBerry kembali dihampiri berita kurang baik. Perusahaan mengalami kerugian yang cukup besar pada kuartal II tahun fiskal 2013. BlackBerry merugi cukup besar, yaitu 965 juta dollar AS atau sekitar Rp 10 triliun.

Jumlah perangkat yang terjual di kuartal tersebut pun kurang menggembirakan. Jumlahnya hanya sekitar 3,7 juta perangkat, sebagian besar masih menjalankan sistem operasi BlackBerry 7.

Produk yang diharapkan dapat mengembalikan BlackBerry ke masa kejayaan, BlackBerry Z10, malah membuat mereka semakin terpuruk. BlackBerry mengungkapkan, penurunan nilai buku dari Z10 yang tidak berhasil dijual mencapai 934 juta dollar AS.

BBM Android-iPhone Butuh BlackBerry ID, Caranya?

Aplikasi pesan instan BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) di Android dan iPhone masih membutuhkan personal identification number (PIN) sebagai alat otentifikasi agar dapat berkirim pesan. Salah satu yang dibutuhkan pengguna untuk mendapatkan PIN adalah dengan memasukkan akun BlackBerry ID di aplikasi BBM.

Senior Director Marketing Asia Pacific BlackBerry, Krishnadeep Baruah, menjelaskan, BlackBerry ID harus dimiliki setiap pengguna yang ingin memakai BBM.

Ada dua hal yang dapat dilakukan pengguna untuk sign-in menggunakan BlackBerry ID.

Mentransfer akun BlackBerry ID

Jika sebelumnya menggunakan ponsel BlackBerry dan sudah memiliki akun BlackBerry ID, Anda cukup memasukkan akun tersebut saat login di aplikasi BBM pada perangkat Android atau iPhone.

Secara otomatis, seluruh kontak BBM Anda akan ditransfer ke BBM di perangkat Android atau iPhone.

Dalam kasus ini, saat login di BBM Android atau iPhone, Anda akan mendapatkan PIN dan barcode baru. PIN ini akan selamanya melekat dengan akun BlackBerry ID. Jadi, tidak akan berubah selama Anda menggunakan BlackBerry ID yang sama.

Sementara itu, PIN atau barcode lama Anda akan tetap melekat pada ponsel BlackBerry.

Membuat akun BlackBerry ID baru

Anda dimungkinkan untuk membuat akun BlackBerry ID baru dari perangkat Android ataupun iPhone.

Setelah mengisi semua data yang diminta, Anda akan mendapatkan PIN dan barcode unik untuk otentikasi. BBM tidak menggunakan nomor ponsel untuk otentifikasi.

Selanjutnya, Anda dapat memasukkan BlackBerry ID tersebut di perangkat Android atau iPhone lainnya.

Jika ingin daftar kontak yang ada di BlackBerry ditransfer ke Android/iPhone, lakukan proses login menggunakan BlackBerry ID di ponsel BlackBerry terlebih dahulu.

Satu BlackBerry ID hanya dapat digunakan pada satu perangkat. Jika satu BlackBerry ID digunakan pada dua perangkat, salah satu perangkat tidak akan bisa menggunakan BBM.

Sama dengan kasus di atas, saat login di BBM Android atau iPhone, Anda akan mendapatkan PIN dan barcode baru. PIN ini akan selamanya melekat dengan akun BlackBerry ID. Jadi, tidak akan berubah selama Anda menggunakan BlackBerry ID yang sama.

BBM untuk Android bisa diunduh di Play Store pada 21 September jam 18.00 WIB. Sementara di iPhone, BBM bisa diunduh di App Store pada 22 September jam 00.01 WIB. Keduanya dapat diunduh secara gratis.

BBM lintas platform ini hanya dapat berjalan di perangkat yang memakai sistem operasi Android versi 4.0 ke atas dan iOS 6 ke atas.

Cara mengundang kontak BBM sama persis dengan di perangkat BlackBerry. Pengguna bisa mengundang melalui PIN, memindai barcode, lewat e-mail, juga SMS.

Pada tahap awal, BBM di Android dan iPhone memiliki fungsi standar untuk berkirim pesan teks, mengirim voice note dan video singkat, serta membuat grup diskusi. Anda juga dimungkinkan mengganti gambar profil atau status.

Di kemudian hari, tidak menutup kemungkinan BBM untuk Android dan iPhone akan memiliki fitur BBM Voice, Video, Screen Share, bahkan Channels.

Di Mana Bisa "Download" Aplikasi Resmi BBM untuk Android?

 Hari yang ditunggu-tunggu para pengguna Android yang "rindu" BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) tapi tak mau menggunakan ponsel Blackberry akhirnya datang sudah.

Aplikasi BBM untuk Android, kurang dari satu jam lagi, tepatnya pada pukul 18.00 WIB, Sabtu (21/9/2013), sudah bisa diunduh dan digunakan oleh pengguna Android.

Update: BlackBerry telah menunda peluncuran aplikasi BBM untuk Android dan menarik aplikasi untuk iPhone dari Apple App Store, Minggu (22/9/2013) pagi waktu Indonesia. 

Aplikasi chatting yang sangat populer di Indonesia ini dapat diunduh gratis di Google Play Store dari perangkat Android. Namun, banyaknya aplikasi BBM palsu yang beredar di Google Play bakal menjadi masalah untuk pengguna Android memilih aplikasi yang tepat.

Sebelum mengunduh aplikasi BBM, perhatikan nama developer/pengembang aplikasinya. Aplikasi BBM yang resmi adalah yang menggunakan nama "BlackBerry Limited".

 Agar tak salah mengunduh, sebaiknya Anda untuk memantau dari tautan ini.
Tautan di atas merupakan halaman aplikasi-aplikasi yang resmi dikeluarkan oleh BlackBerry. Kemungkinan besar, aplikasi BBM untuk Android juga akan muncul di halaman ini.

Ada tiga aplikasi BlackBerry di halaman tersebut, yaitu BES10 Client, Work Space Manager, dan Secure Work Space. Banyak pengguna yang mengira BES10 Client adalah aplikasi resmi BBM untuk Android. Performa dan Kemampuan

Samsung Galaksi Note II hadir dengan Prosesor Quad-core Cortex-A9 milik Samsung dengan chipset Exynos 4412 berkecepatan 1.6 GHz diperkuat oleh GPU Mali-400MP dan sudah dioptimalisasi untuk bekerja pada jaringan LTE. Diembani dengan RAM sebesar 2GB dan memori internal 16 GB Galaxy Note II mampu mendukung memori eksternal hingga 32 GB.

Galaxy Note II merupakan smartphone pertama keluaran Samsung yang rilis menggunakan versi Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Versi terbaru ini diyakini memberikan tampilan grafis yang lebih memukau serta servis Google Now yang dapat diupgrade. Selain itu Galaxy Note II juga didesain dengan SAFE (Security, Accessibility, Flexibility dan Efficiency) yang berarti telah memiliki tambahan fitur pengaman untuk melindungi data serta komunikasi yang sensitif.

Baterai dengan kekuatan 3.100 mAh mampu bertahan stand-by hingga 980 jam serta talktime hingga 35 jam. Baterai ini juga memiliki ukuran yang lebih besar dari baterai Galaxy Note sebelumnya. Walaupun baterainya memiliki ukuran lebih besar, namun Galaxy Note II berbobot lebih ringan. Bezel atau frame pada layar juga dibuat lebih tipis untuk mengakomodir layar yang lebih besar.
