BBM Android dan iPhone Tak Kunjung Dirilis, Batal?

Tak kunjung dirilisnya BBM untuk Android dan iPhone membuat banyak pihak menduga aplikasi chatting populer tersebut bakal batal diluncurkan. Ditambah beredarnya selentingan bahwa konsorsium calon pembeli BlackBerry, Fairfax, keberatan BBM dilepas untuk platform lain.

Menanggapi rumor tersebut, BlackBerry menyatakan tetap berkomitmen untuk menghadirkan aplikasi BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) lintas platform.

Melalui akun Twitter resmi BBM, BlackBerry menyatakan komitmen penuh untuk tetap menghadirkan BBM lintas platform ini. "Tetap 100 persen berkomitmen untuk membawa #BBM ke Android dan iPhone," kicau BlackBerry.

Sayangnya, seperti dikutip dari Tech Crunch, Selasa (1/10/2013), BlackBerry masih enggan menyebutkan kapan jadwal peluncuran kembali BBM untuk iPhone dan Android.

Disinyalir penyebabnya molornya jadwal ini karena pihak teknis BlackBerry masih belum menemukan cara untuk memblokir file tidak resmi BBM untuk Android.

Minggu lalu, Andrew Bocking, Kepala Divisi BBM di BlackBerry, mengungkapkan bahwa proses pemblokiran tersebut tidaklah semudah yang diperkirakan dan akan menghabiskan beberapa waktu. Oleh karena kesulitan ini, Bocking membeberkan, aplikasi BBM lintas platform tidak dapat diluncurkan sesegera mungkin.
